Trade Finance Lawyer – Vice President

London, hybrid working, full-time or part-time 4 days/week

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Trade Finance Lawyer (Vice President) to join their Legal Services team in London. This is a strategic, hands-on role supporting corporate lending and trade finance activity across the EMEA region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise on a wide range of corporate lending matters including syndicated and bilateral loans, guarantees, security structures, and sustainable finance.

  • Provide legal input on trade finance products such as letters of credit, supply chain and receivables financing, and guarantees.

  • Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial contracts, including internal service-level agreements and third-party procurement or tech agreements.

  • Offer guidance on English law and legal/regulatory developments impacting cross-border transactions.

  • Collaborate with front office, risk, compliance, and operations to manage legal risk and ensure seamless execution of deals.

  • Manage relationships with external legal counsel and ensure legal spend is efficient and controlled.

  • Maintain and update legal documentation, internal databases, and playbooks.


What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualified solicitor (England & Wales) with a minimum of 4 years’ PQE

  • Strong experience in corporate lending and/or trade finance, ideally from a leading law firm or in-house within financial services

  • Familiarity with commercial contracts and legal risk management in banking or a regulated environment

  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams, solve problems proactively, and work collaboratively across teams

  • Organised, adaptable, and able to thrive under pressure

  • Experience mentoring junior colleagues is a plus
