VP/Director Trade Support Middle Office Commodities Markets

Support Commodities Markets Traders in securing the booking, positions and inherent risks of their books.

  • Lead the day to day running flow of production, promote strong reactive performance culture, develop strong relationships with Front Office Desks.
  • Ensure best quality of service to traders, communicate to transversal departments and downstream chain.  Support new business line requirements, reinforce ad hoc controls and reconciliations, ensure good level of knowledge of complete life cycle of trades.
  • Analyse, challenge, report and escalate potential issues.  Understand and analyse transactions with associate hedging and risk representations.

 

Daily production tasks include but are not limited to..

  • Ensure all trades in scope are in system foo correct P&L and risks on trade date. First level of control of manually booked trades at inception.
  • Assist front office in booking of trades when required.  First point of entry and ownership of the analysis securing legitimacy for amendments/cancellations requests.
  • Initiate workflow of approval with other departments e.g. Market risk and quants in relation to amendments, actioning, measuring impacts and reporting to traders.
  • Monitor product lifecycle events impacting positions internally and externally.
  • Setup Markup/XVA controls to ensure p&l accuracy. Setup high level EoM mark to market controls ensuring client statements accuracy.  Setup cash balances monitoring. Setup basis risk control of discounting curves positions for closer monitoring and rebalance with possible internal hedging.
  • Answer requests from transversal departments.  Ad hoc reporting.

 

Requires

  • Strong understanding of Commodities (Swaps Fixed/Float, Float/Float, Gas Formulas, Options, Futures, Physical, Warrants) and Fixed Income (IR, FX, MM), with capacity to develop knowledge of new asset class products when required
  • Strong first level of financial approach, identification of trades with their associate hedge and risks
  • Knowledge of trade life cycle for listed and OTC trades at inception and downstream levels, as well as impacts for Marple in terms of Market risks and official P&L publication
  • Understanding of Front Office systems SOPHIS/MUREX/SUMMIT and Advanced Excel
  • Understanding of static and market data and how these may impact positions, capacity to challenge and improve processes/systems.  Understanding of regulatory requirements.
  • Good communication skills, high level of commitment, reactivity, reliability.  Excellent autonomy with systems, processes and decision making frameworks.
  • Capacity to challenge Traders request and cope with long working days when required.  “Hands on” and “can do” attitude with attention to details
