Investment Risk and Controls Director, Investment Management, Large Wealth Manager

  • A high profile SM&CR role with ultimate responsibility for all aspects of Investment Risk, including operational risk, Regulatory and Investment Controls Risk, Liquidity risk, Market Risk and risk analytics and Reporting.
  • Ensures investment teams adhere to agreed risk limits and investment guidelines at both portfolio and fund level
  • Leads Investment Risk and Controls teams.  Ensures credible stress testing decisions, performance and reporting.
  • Own and develop the Investment Controls process/policies including oversight of 3rd party fund manager controls and design and delivery of regulatory change across the Group’s fund range.
  • Design and develop analytical models to manage fund and portfolio risks and provide risk reporting. Develop systems to support investment risk monitoring, develop the Investment Risk Governance process, policies and procedures.  Develop and embed a strategic Investment Risk culture.
  • Present to senior committees and Boards, attend as a member of the Investment Committee.  Communicate with Fund Managers and represent the division at Group Risk level.


  • A credible senior risk and controls professional with proven experience leading an Investment Risk function of a global asset manager or wealth manager
  • Solid understanding of financial instruments and portfolio construction across asset classes.  A working knowledge of illiquid alternatives and private markets desired.
  • Must understand compliance and regulatory framework governing unitised funds in the UK.
  • Looking for a solid analytical background of financial risk management and financial mathematics with experience of BlackRock Solutions’ Aladdin risk analytics system desired.
  • Prefer professional qualification such as CFA.
  • Regular travel to UK offices.
