Head of Operational Risk, Asset Management

Working within the Risk & Compliance Function, the Head of Operational Risk reports directly to the UK Chief Risk Officer and is responsible for leading the Enterprise-wide Risk team.

This role is responsible for developing, overseeing and reporting on the UK Enterprise Risk Management Framework, taking into account: Group Framework(s), Global adopted standards and UK Board Risk Appetite Statements, and evolving UK regulatory standards.

Working closely with wider Risk & Compliance colleagues, the Head of Operational Risk is also responsible for leading a small team as well as building supportive and collaborative relationships across the firm.

Candidates will bring:

·       10 years’ + relevant experience operating in a regulatory environment either as a risk specialist (consultant or practitioner) with a strong understanding of the asset management industry

·       A strong understanding of the UK regulatory framework, and in particular the Prudential Rules

·       Experience of building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders at all levels

·       Strong judgement and decision making skills

·       Strong analytical skills, ability to think clearly and rigorously about how best to assess and validate risk and reach robust judgements, including under pressure

·       The ability to work actively with and through others to achieve outcomes in both formal and informal teams (including cross functional teams)

·       Driven, motivated by challenges and responding positively. Flexible in approach and ability to adapt to working styles

·       Ability to influence, build and maintain constructive relationships and win the support of both external and internal key stakeholders. Ability to make a strong impact, persuading with well-reasoned arguments and challenging where appropriate

·       Good organisational skills, ability to manage competing priorities, and a challenging workload at times in a resource-constrained environment showing tenacity, resilience and flexibility

·       Commercial awareness and understanding of the Company, its business model and the impact to consumers and how this might impact behaviour

·       Broader knowledge on core risk types such as Cyber, Financial Crime, Data Protection an advantage
